(More customer reviews)This review is for the Air Lift Model 59555, for the 2005-2006 Dodge Dakota 4x4 Club Cab. I purchased the kit from Michigan Spring because Amazon does not offer this model for the 2005 Dakota.
I tow a 24ft Tahoe Lite 5th Wheel that weights in dry at 3500lbs. Tows just great and keeps the truck level, especially with the 700lbs bed weight on the fifth wheel hitch. Installation was straight forward as I did it myself. Remember not to drill the bottom holes clear through the frame, just through the outside. The bolts supplied for the bottom of the mounts were 3/8" too long. Contacted their tech support and they were not much help. Ended up having to walk to a hardware store to get the proper GRADE 8 bolts. Recommend welding the brackets into place after installation. This will ensure there is no catastrophic failure should a bolt let loose on you. The air hose attachment is rather straight forward. Just make sure that there are no body or suspension parts near the air line to cause abrasion.
The only drawback I see is the separate airline chuck for each side. The logic they use is this enables the user to adjust the ride height to balance an "unbalanced" load. I would have liked the option of a single fill point since I am towing a trailer that is balanced dead center in the bed.
With no load they recommend 10lbs air in each bag. Good idea however I keep it up around 15lbs. Max pressure is 100lbs but when I tow I keep the pressure at 30lbs and the height works out great. Just remember to bring the pressure down when not towing or that rearend will get real "lively".
The model 59555 mounts directly above the axle, not offset like some of them. Much better weight distribution I think with the air lift directly above the axle.
